According to Friday's daily report from the DPH, 197 patients with confirmed coronavirus cases were hospitalized in Massachusetts, of which 40 were reported to be in an intensive care unit.

The 7 day average of hospitalizations in Massachusetts has nearly doubled since early July, DPH statistics show.

State health officials also added three confirmed COVID-19-related death to the state's total, which is now 17,714.
