Joe Biden, the president-elect, is expected to nominate Antony Blinken, his top foreign-policy adviser during the 2020 campaign, to serve as his secretary of state, a source told Fox News early Monday.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Biden has close ties with Blinken that go back nearly 20 years, and he is expected to be named on Tuesday, along with other Cabinet announcements.

Bloomberg, which first reported on the expected selection, said Blinken served as then-Vice President Biden’s national security adviser and eventually elevated in the ranks to President Obama’s deputy secretary of state.

Two Democrat sources told Fox News that Linda Thomas-Greenfield is expected to be tapped for the U.N.

ambassador role, and Jake Sullivan is expected to be named Biden’s national security adviser.

The paper said Blinken and Sullivan are good friends with “a common worldview.”
