(WBAY) - Data from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) show new coronavirus cases trending down but deaths are up.

Brown County reported 2 deaths.

When you take discharges and deaths into account, there are 39 fewer patients in hospitals than Thursday.

According to the Wisconsin Hospital Association, there are currently 972 hospitalized for COVID-19 treatment, including 310 in intensive care -- that’s 2 more in ICU than Thursday.

It’s the first time Wisconsin hospitals had fewer than 1,000 COVID-19 patients in hospitals since early September.

The Northeast health care region has 156 COVID-19 patients, with 38 in ICU -- 6 fewer in ICU, and 6 fewer overall -- with 3 ICU beds immediately available among the 10 hospitals for all patients with critical care needs.

Fox Valley hospitals have 84 of the patients, including 22 in ICU.

The DHS reports 57.6% of Wisconsin’s population received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine (3,351998 people), and almost 55% of the state’s population (54.9%) has finished their vaccination series (3,194,107 people).

The Winnebago County Health Department will have vaccine available for everyone age 12 and up.
