MDH: 7,877 new COVID-19 cases, record-high 72 new deaths in latest report - KSTP

Thursday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported a record-breaking 72 new deaths from COVID-19, as well as 7,877 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests.

Of the 7,877 newly reported cases, 288 of them are noted as probable cases, according to MDH.

Of the total deaths reported as of Thursday, 2,117 were in long-term care facilities.

According to MDH, the newly reported positive COVID-19 cases in Minnesota reported on Thursday moved the state's total to 249,906 since pandemic record-keeping began.

As of Thursday, more than 3.6 million COVID-19 tests have been completed in Minnesota.

Note: According to MDH - "Because all data are preliminary, the change in number of cumulative positive cases and deaths from one day to the next may not equal the newly reported cases or deaths."
