Oregon sees spike in new coronavirus cases - KEZI TV

Officials said the increase is due in part to more widespread testing and contact tracing.

– Oregon Health Authority announced 97 new confirmed and presumptive cases of coronavirus in the state on Friday.

Among the new cases are five in Benton, six in Clackamas, one in Deschutes, one in Douglas, nine in Hood River, nine in Jefferson, one in Klamath, four in Lincoln, three in Linn, one in Malheur, 17 in Marion, 12 in Multnomah, one in Umatilla, three in Wasco, 20 in Washington and four in Yamhill.

OHA said this is the third highest daily count of new cases since the start of the pandemic.

It brings the total for the past three days to 238 reported cases.

OHA said there’s may factors, including more widespread testing, increased contact tracing and active monitoring of close contacts of cases.

There has been an increase in the number of household cases associated with a confirmed case.

OHA said they both had underlying health conditions.

One case each in Crook and Deschutes counties have been determined to not be cases.
