Random: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Might Include A Popular Zelda CD-i Reference - Nintendo Life
Nov 21, 2020 2 mins, 56 secs

So Morshu is canon now, yeah.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity not only makes reference to the latest game in the mainline Legend of Zelda series but also pays its respects to various other entries in the timeline, such as Ocarina of Time and even Link's Awakening.

If that wasn't already impressive enough, it seems there might also be a reference to Link's Phillips CD-i releases?

In particular - the popular merchant / modern-day meme - Morshu from the 1993 game, Link: The Faces of Evil!

In Link: The Faces of Evil, Morshu is the owner of a general store in the Goronu area?

So this means Morshu is canon now, right.

I am the only one that wants a Zelda CD-i collection on the switch.

Whenever I see Morshu all I can think of is that video of him beatboxing.

We did it boys, Morshu is canon.

I'd have to see how the text is written in Japanese and other languages before drawing a conclusion, Nintendo's English localizers/translators are known to be "in" on the whole meme reference thing.

If you're going to reference it, why would you pick the least evocative quote.

Like most of those "references" some "smarty pants" on the internet thinks he found in a game, all I have to add is: 🤨.

Aonuma said that the original Hyrule Warriors took place in a different dimension.

Does the sequel on a non-canon game become canon because it contains prequel events to Breath of the Wild.

Personally, I don't believe it's canon!

This enables it to take liberties with the story that can contradict Breath of the Wild and other Zelda canon.

Oh and for those hoping for a more direct reference to Morshu, depending upon licensing or copyright maybe, it could be that they can't give credit.

@eboreg Fair enough, but Age of Calamity is not a sequel to the first Hyrule Warriors in any way.

Hyrule Warriors was a completely self contained new story.

I'm far from finishing the game myself, but other than the new little guardian companion, so far, nothing really contradicts any of BotW's story.

I've always said these games should be canon

Would be good if they threw in an adapted version of the Zelda game and watch too so modern audiences can have access to all the hard to find Zelda releases

It's like you tried to convince them that the presence of watermelons in the game is a reference to Yoshi
