Australia’s brand new $100 banknote enters circulation

The Reserve Bank has released the new $100 note, the final design change in an overhaul of our currency.

The Reserve Bank has unveiled a new $50 note look which will be released into circulation in October.

The new $100 note has been released into circulation today, the Reserve Bank (RBA) has announced.

With more than 400 million $100 banknotes in circulation, it will take time for the new banknotes to be widely circulated across the country as it slowly replaces the existing bills floating throughout the country’s payment system.

The new $100 banknotes can also be purchased over-the-counter at the Reserve Bank’s Sydney Head Office and Canberra branch.

The Reserve Bank said it has worked closely with banknote equipment manufacturers and retailers to help them prepare ATMs and other banknote authenticating machines to handle the new $100 banknote
