Clint Eastwood makes rare appearance as he joins Jane Goodall to celebrate 90th birthday

Ahead of his own birthday next month, Clint Eastwood made a show of support for Jane Goodall as he joined her in his hometown for a rare appearance.

To mark her major milestone, the London-born icon has embarked on a 90th Birthday Tour and stopped by Carmel-by-the-Sea for an event presented by Wildlife Conservation Network.

The conservationist, who is renowned for her work with primates in particular, sported a classy ensemble with a brightly colored shawl over a long-sleeve shirt and black slacks with her long silver hair slicked back into a ponytail.

While the duo have never worked together directly, Clint is a well-known nature enthusiast and raised his children among his countless animals on his ranch in Carmel, where he was voted as the 30th mayor in 1986.

Juror No 2, a courtroom drama starring Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collete, started filming last June with Clint behind the camera as director and producer.
