Infection rates have also decreased in four out of six North Wales areas.

There have been 16 new cases of Covid-19 recorded in North Wales, according to the latest figures released by Public Health Wales.

The number of new cases has been steadily declining across North Wales, and today's figure is a decrease from the 24 reported in yesterday's update.

No further Covid-19 related deaths have been recorded in North Wales - so the total for Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board stands at 939.

Across the whole of Wales no new deaths were reported, meaning the country's total Covid-19 death toll remains at 5,531, with 50 new cases recorded across the country.

Anglesey now has the highest infection rate in North Wales over seven days - 31.4 - and has the second-highest rate in Wales.

Of the new North Wales cases, Flintshire recorded the most with six new cases while Denbighshire recorded no new cases.

Betsi Cadwaladr:16 new cases - total 34,778.

Cardiff and Vale: 10 new cases - total 33,425.

Resident outside Wales: 2 new cases - total 9,386.

Dr Giri Shankar, Incident Director for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak response at Public Health Wales, said: “From today, Monday 12 April, a number of restrictions will be eased as the levels of positive cases continues to fall.

“In addition, travel restrictions on travelling into and out of Wales will be lifted.

“While this easing of restrictions following the declining number of positive cases is welcome, we would remind the general public that coronavirus is still circulating in our communities and a large number of people have not been fully vaccinated.
