Rural Americans Stopped Staying In. Then Covid-19 Hit.

As new virus cases broke records all over, Americans in rural counties were leaving home about as much as they did before the pandemic struck, a Wall Street Journal analysis of coronavirus case data from Johns Hopkins University and cellphone mobility metrics from data firm SafeGraph found.

14 were about 60% higher in rural areas than in urban counties, according to the figures from Johns Hopkins and federal government data identifying county types.
