Making the costumes for a dazzling musical production is hard enough without contending with shortages of essential items such as elastic and thread.

Despite this, the production's 65-strong costume team have come up with the goods, creating more than 500 period outfits, replete with handmade shoes and accessories.

"We're only halfway through but we've probably made 100 [pairs of shoes] already and there's about 35 hours per pair in the making, so we've been busy," she said.

"We have to be ready to adapt and I think certainly what we've seen over recent weeks as the climate changes, we need to be ready to be able to implement new plans and new procedures and to be nimble," he said
