John Cleese sparks frenzy with Fawlty Towers update as fans say the same thing

(Image: ITV) John Cleese took to social media on Thursday to share an exciting update with his 5.5 million followers about the West End adaptation of Fawlty Towers.

John wrote on X/Twitter: “Just over six weeks to go before we bring Fawlty Towers to the West End stage for the first time!

One user wrote: “Dearest John Cleese, I adore you and have since my parents introduced me to Fawlty Towers when I was a child in the 80s!

Announcing the stage show last month, John said it was a “thrill” to be bringing the sitcom to the West End almost 50 years since it was first recorded.

The cast includes Adam Jackson-Smith as Basil Fawlty, Anna-Jane Casey as his wife Sybil, Hemi Yeroham as waiter Manuel and Victoria Fox as Polly the chambermaid.

The play is directed by Caroline Jay Ranger who previously worked on Only Fools and Horses: The Musical and Monty Python Live.
