Rough upbringing: Brown - who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 32 - fought back and eventually returned to the Orchard Park Projects where he grew up as one of eight children in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood.

Brown wants to be a good example for his three children - son Cassius, nearly 13; daughter Bodhi, 6; and daughter Hendrix, 5 - with his manager-turned-second wife Alicia Etheredge-Brown.
