According to a post on Reddit by user DominusLux (via ChromeUnboxed), the Google Phone app may be rebranded to Google Call, with a new multi-colored icon to boot.

The rebranded app was apparently spotted in an advertisement on YouTube.

The ad included a link to the Phone by Google app in Google Play.
