On the morning of Friday, January 27th, club members will receive a code to access the product page on the Fears website.

Christopher Ward is an Anglo-Swiss company, founded in 2004, that designs its watches in England and engineers and assembles them in Switzerland.

The second was a collaboration with English watchmaker Garrick and checks more horological nerd boxes — Garrick movement, power reserve display, running seconds, and a display at six o'clock where you can see the movement's balance — which is reflected in its $25,000 (once you've added taxes and VAT) price tag.

The Sellita SW 200 movement has a 38-hour power reserve with a module built on top of it, created by Christopher Ward, to allow for the jumping hour in Fears' "Edwin" font, at 12 o'clock.

They evoke how sometimes, especially if you have nothing you have to do, or think about, or if you have had an especially good day, or are headed somewhere special, the most ordinary ride on a commuter train or even a bus can feel as glamorous as being on an ocean liner.

But what you're paying for, I think, other than quality that is there despite some necessary corner-cutting, is that unique Fears feeling: enjoying luxury while also trusting that you have made a wholly sensible purchase.
