He said that some of the misdemeanor charges brought against the people who sieged the Capitol were intended as placeholder counts and that more serious charges including sedition are possible.

He said attorneys are pursuing conspiracy and seditious charges in which people could face up to 20 years for felonies.

attorneys across the country have also said people could face charges in their home states if they traveled to Washington and took part in the assault.
