‘The Challenge 35’: Bayleigh Dayton Revealed Why She ‘Popped off’ at the Nomination Ceremony

During the premiere of The Challenge 35: Total Madness, prospect Bayleigh Dayton “popped off” on Jay Starrett for mentioning her husband, Chris “Swaggy C” Williams, garnering a “memeable” look from Aneesa Ferriera. After the episode aired, she took to Twitter to clarify why she acted that way.

In 2018, Maryland-based flight attendant Bayleigh Dayton and Connecticut-based day trader Chris “Swaggy C” Williams appeared on Big Brother 20 together.

They quickly formed a showmance and became inseparable. Chris won the first two competitions, and the couple created an alliance with a few other houseguests named Foutte.

However, the day trader started acting cocky and speaking more loosely, annoying ally Kaitlyn Herman. She then flipped on the alliance and backdoored Chris as Head of Household on Week 2. He was evicted in an 8-4 vote.

After her boyfriend’s eviction, America granted Bayleigh a Power App that allowed her to change nominations. She opened up about her advantage to Rachel Swinder, who told the dominating Level Six alliance about it.

Then, Angela Rummnons convinced Bayleigh not to use her Power App at the upcoming nomination ceremony, and then backdoored the flight attendant. Bayleigh became the first jury member in a 6-1 vote.

During the reunion, Chris proposed to Bayleigh and the couple married in February 2019.

After enjoying their first few months of marriage, the Big Brother couple competed on The Challenge 35: Total Madness alongside co-stars Fessy Shafaat and winner Kaycee Clark.

For the individual season, the competitors live in underground bunkers, unlike the luxurious mansion they’re used to, and must win an elimination to receive a ticket to the finale.

Every week, they compete in a challenge, and the female and male winners, along with another person of their choice, form the Tribunal. They do not attend the house deliberations.

However, they do interrogate three competitors of their choosing. Then, the player the majority of the house votes in along with the person the Tribunal selects face off in an elimination.

The winner then returns to the house and receives a red skull on their helmet while the loser goes home.

During the house deliberations for the male elimination, the majority decided prospects, or rookies, should go in first. Even though Chris and Fessy are also rookies, the conversation centered around sending in either Jay Starrett or Asaf Goren.

One competitor pointed out that Chris has Bayleigh and Asaf coupled up with Nany Gonzalez. Therefore, it made sense to throw in Jay, who had no attachments to anyone.

We’re going to learn a lot together this season, I can tell. Lesson 1: People who are defensive have normally been given MULTIPLE reasons in life to feel like they need to be. I’m learning that IRL not everyone wants to hurt me/come after me. But that doesn’t apply to this game

Attempting to save himself, the Survivor star explained he didn’t think Bayleigh and Chris’ prior relationship should have anything to do with the game.

Once the house began casting their votes for who they wanted to nominate, Bayleigh called Jay out and asked if he was throwing her man under the bus. His response sufficed her, so she voted for Asaf.

After the episode aired, Bayleigh took to Twitter to explain, “people who are defensive have normally been given multiple reasons in life to feel like they need to be.”

In another tweet, she said she would “go to war” for Chris because he’s not like her other exes who didn’t treat her right. Additionally, she clarified her behavior explaining she’s “psycho when it comes to my man and my money,” which is why she’s portrayed as “crazy” throughout her reality television career.

Several fans commented with their support and told her she’s their favorite of the season. The Challenge 35: Total Madness airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on MTV.
